Judge Orders Apple to Loosen App Store Restrictions in Mixed Verdict

Apple Inc. must loosen its restrictions on how developers can seek payment within their apps, a federal judge ruled Friday, but she left the tech giant’s powerful App Store in place as the only way to download programs to iPhones and iPads.

U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers rejected efforts by Epic Games Inc. to force Apple to let programs be downloaded onto the iPhone outside of the confines of the App Store.
